Destroyers of the 10th and 14th Flotilla (10ª and 14ª Squadriglia Cacciatorpediniere) leaving the port of Palermo late in the afternoon of 14 June 1942. The ships were about to join the cruisers of 7a Divisione Incrociatori despatched to encounter the British convoy "Harpoon", eastbound from Gibraltar to Malta. In the foreground, the Oriani with a "standard" camouflage pattern; at left - above Oriani's bow - the destroyer Vivaldi in an experimental overall dark gray scheme and, in the right background, the destroyer Ascari ("Soldati" class) in her "Claudus" dazzle pattern. In the far distance at the right, in the outer harbour, two more "Navigatori" class destroyers - Zeno and Malocello - can barely be seen.
