from an original in the E. Bagnasco collection. The destroyer Libeccio was lost on the morning of 9 November 1941, torpedoed and sunk by HMS Upholder (Cdr. Wanklyn) in the southern Ionian Sea, east of Sicily. The Libeccio was one of the escort ships of the "Duisburg" convoy, attacked and destroyed by Malta's "Force K in the night between 8 and 9 November; after having been torpedoed, Libeccio was taken in tow by the destroyer Euro, but leaks and hull damage caused her sinking - as shown in the photograph - at 11.18, in position 36°50'N - 18°10'W.
